A major loss could be a traumatic event. Grieving the loss of a fantasy is of course harder than celebrating the win. The fantasy of Kamala giving her winning acceptance speech with her loved ones surrounding her as she is unable to hold back her beautiful smile was just that, a fantasy. And, so, here’s a strange question on a day like this! Is deeply grieving the loss of a fantasy worse than losing ourselves in celebration of the win of that fantasy?
The question, in the context above, arises from the teaching of Saints. They tell stories or they try to demonstrate for us that the ultimate goal of being in the human body is to equally accept pain and pleasure, in this reality we believe to be the absolute reality. They remind us, in one way or another, that in grief, or in solitude or rather in meditation with the guidance of a true Master, we have to find our strength. They have also said; Accepting a defeat is one thing but accepting being defeated is another.
